Hello there,

I’m Michael Pickett, the heart behind Shawbrook Mobility. For over three decades, I’ve poured my passion, experience, and a good bit of my soul into the furniture industry. Today, I want to share a bit of that journey with you, not just as a business owner, but as someone who’s walked the path from crafting antique pine furniture to enhancing the lives of those seeking comfort and mobility in their living spaces.

From Humble Beginnings to a Family Legacy

It all started back in 1991 with a venture named Mr. Picketts, inspired by the charm of Mr. Pickwick’s era, where antique pine furniture was the talk of the town. Fast forward, and the baton passed to new hands, but the essence of crafting quality furniture remained my guiding star.

Moving on to retail with Homewood Interiors in Portchester, we introduced a range of oak and pine furniture, alongside sofas and chairs that promised comfort and style. However, it was in 2011 when the true transformation began. Venturing into manufacturing, we found our niche in creating upholstered furniture that catered primarily to the care sector—our efforts focused on making everyday living a bit more comfortable for those in retirement apartments and residential care homes.

Shawbrook Mobility: A Vision Realised

With the birth of MP Sales Ltd in June 2019, Shawbrook Mobility emerged as the embodiment of all these years of learning, growing, and understanding the true meaning of comfort and support. Located in Park Gate near Fareham, our factory became the birthplace of diverse styles of sofas, reclining chairs, and fireside chairs, each designed with care and precision.

Our mission was clear: to specialise in mobility furniture that makes a difference in people’s lives. From riser reclining chairs and portering chairs to adjustable beds, we’ve harnessed all my past experiences to ensure Shawbrook Mobility stands as a beacon of quality and reliability in the mobility furniture industry.

My daughter, Layla Luff, has joined the company, bringing her fresh perspectives and energy into our advisory role.
